Steely Dan is often described as a "cult band," and they are a prime example of when this term truly applies. Over their more than fifty-year history, they recorded nine studio albums, functioning both as a purely studio-based project and a live concert sensation. While they started as a rock band, their work quickly evolved to feature a distinctive blend of rock, polished pop sounds, and jazz harmonies. Collaborators on their recordings included the likes of Steve Gadd, Jeff Porcaro, Larry Carlton, and Wayne Shorter, among many other musicians. Iconic tracks such as "Kid Charlemagne," "Aja," , "Do It Again" and "Reelin' In The Years" have become a part of the unofficial textbook of musical and sonic studio craftsmanship. The central creative figures of the band were vocalist and pianist Donald Fagen (1948) and guitarist and bassist Walter Becker (1950–2017).
At Jazz Dock, musicians who have irreversibly fallen under the spell of Becker and Fagen's "cult" will bring you a tribute to Steely Dan. For this special occasion, drummer Jenny Krompolc Jr., bassist Iva Kejzlarová, guitarists Martin Lysoněk and Matěj Belko, keyboardist Jiří Neužil, and a horn section featuring Jakub Doležal, Andy Schofield, and Suzanne Higgins will perform together. Vocalists Veronika Vítová and Betty Panzo will also join them.
