Did you know the Moravian Duets brought Antonín Dvořák an international acclaim? Hear them tonight.

The key figure of the Year of Czech Music is Antonín Dvořák. And his key opus is Moravian Double Songs. They brought him international recognition. "When you play them, you will be as happy as I am. And as a publisher you will be especially pleased with their unusual charm," wrote Johannes Brahms in a recommendation to his Berlin publisher Fritz Simrock, who fortunately for the world published them.

At the end of February 2024 they will be performed by the excellent Czechoslovak duo Simona Šaturová and Monika Jägerová, with stylish accompaniment by pianist Vojtěch Spurný. He will also intersperse the evening of songs with rarely performed piano gems: the Eclogues of Václav Jan Křtitel Tomášek, a celebrity of our revival, a friend of Mozart, Beethoven and Goethe. Tomášek, too, fully belongs to the Year of Czech Music, as 2024 marks the 250th anniversary of his birth.
