The Kaiserstein Palace is a popular venue for organising classical concerts with unforgettable amosphere
The famous opera singer Ema Destinnová lived in Kaiserstein Palace and the music hall named after her hosts chamber concerts of classical music. Two Renaissance houses were merged and rebuilt in 1714 into today´s palace. Under construction proposal is signed famous architect Giovanni Battista Alliprandi and construction was carried out by the workshop of Kilian Ignac Dientzenhofer.
The first owner of the Palace was František Helfried, Baron of Kaiserstein and a military commander of Prague. In the 19th century the edifice belonged to marshall Radecký, who is considered one of the greatest generals of his time. Later owner, a hotelier Václav Petzold established a restaurant here. His wife, an opera singer Marie Sittová was the first "bartered bride" in the famous opera by Bedřich Smetana.
Another famous personality who lived in the palace is French geologist and paleontologist Joachim Barrande. However, the palace is mostly associated with the name of Ema Destinnová who lived here in the years 1908 - 1911 and in whose honor is named the main hall.
