Late Baroque basilica in Břevnov Monastery, the oldest monastery in Bohemia

Břevnov Benedictine monastery celebrated a millenium since its foundation in 1993 and it is the oldest monastery in Bohemia. The monastery was reconstructed in the 18th century by leading artists of the era – architects Kryštof and Kilian Ignac Dientzenhofers, painters Peter Brandl and Jan Jakob Stevens. As a result, we can now admire this artistically valuable complex of Baroque buildings, basilica and gardens.

In frequent concerts you can admire the sound of a rare Baroque organ from 1725. The cabinet was probably designed by Kilian Ignac Dientzenhofer as his first organ cabinet. It has three manuals and 34 registers.
