Surrender to the beauty of unique contrast between nobility of St. Margaret Church and tranquility of monastery gardens. We highly recommend concerts in Břevnov monastery, a place of lively spiritual tradition lasting for more than 1000 years.
Břevnov Benedictine monastery celebrated a millenium since its foundation in 1993 and it is the oldest monastery in Bohemia. The monastery was reconstructed in the 18th century by leading artists of the era – architects Kryštof and Kilian Ignac Dientzenhofers, painters Peter Brandl and Jan Jakob Stevens. As a result, we can now admire this artistically valuable complex of Baroque buildings, basilica and gardens.
In frequent concerts you can admire the sound of a rare Baroque organ from 1725. The cabinet was probably designed by Kilian Ignac Dientzenhofer as his first organ cabinet. It has three manuals and 34 registers.
