The program will feature the latest choreographic masterpieces by Jiří Bubeníček

originally created for leading ballet companies in Europe and Asia. Some of these works will be performed in Prague for the very first time, adding a unique artistic value to the event.

The stage will bring together soloists from renowned ballet companies, including Tokyo City Ballet, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Staatsballett Berlin, Bayerisches Staatsballett, and Birmingham Royal Ballet.

These dance performances, enhanced by live musical accompaniment, will combine technical precision, artistic originality, and international elegance. Adding to the evening’s allure, talented students from the Bubeníček Ballet Masterclasses will join the stage, offering them a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform alongside global ballet stars.

It is a great honor to bring such prestigious companies and dancers to Prague. My goal is not only to present the best of world ballet but also to strengthen cultural connections through the power of art,” says Jiří Bubeníček, the projects founder.

About Jiří Bubeníček:

Renowned choreographer and former principal dancer of the Hamburg Ballet and Semperoper Ballet in Dresden

Internationally acclaimed choreographer Jiří Bubeníček is celebrated as one of the finest ballet artists of the last 25 years. A long-time principal dancer with the Hamburg Ballet and the Semperoper Ballet in Dresden, he was renowned for his extraordinary musicality, athleticism, flexibility, unmatched technique, and intuitive ability to embody his characters.

Among his many accolades, his performance as Armand in the ballet „Lady of the Camellias“ with the Ballet de l’Opéra de Paris earned him the prestigious Benois de la Danse award in 2002. Other honours include the Espèces Prize at the Prix de Lausanne and the Mary Wigman Prize, awarded by the Semperoper Ballet.

As a choreographer, Bubeníček has created over 70 works, ranging from short pieces to full-length narrative ballets. He is particularly celebrated for his ability to tell compelling stories through dance. His most notable productions include “Doctor Zhivago“ (2016), “Piano“ (2018), Kafka’s “The Trial“ (2019), “Cinderella“ (2019), “Romeo and Juliet“ (2022), and “Spartacus“ (2023). His production of “Carmen“ (2019) earned him the “Europa in Danza” award, while his “Romeo and Juliet“ was honoured with the Boris Papandopulo Prize for Best Ballet Production of the 2021/22 season. His latest full-length ballet, “La Strada“ (2024), and the critically acclaimed “Cyrano de Bergerac“ created for the National Theatre in Brno, further cemented his exceptional reputation in the dance world.

Bubeníček’s works have also been featured in TV and DVD productions, showcasing his artistry both as a choreographer and a dancer.

In addition to his artistic achievements, Bubeníček is a dedicated educator. He founded the prestigious Bubeníček Ballet Masterclasses and actively nurtures young talent. As Artistic Director of Les Ballets Bubeníček, he collaborates with leading ballet companies worldwide.

For his contributions to dance, he has received numerous honours, including the Silver Medal of the City of Prague in 2017. Bubeníček is recognised not only as an extraordinary dancer and choreographer but also as a visionary who bridges cultures through the universal language of dance.
