Influenced by both jazz and electronic music, Katarzia moves fluidly between band-oriented and electronic arrangements in her live show
She is a distinctive voice of the Czech-Slovak music scene – a lyricist, singer-songwriter, and producer. Her work blends introspective explorations of womanhood with reflections on contemporary society. Some of Katarzia's favorite artists include Thundercat, FKA Twigs, Kendrick Lamar, and Lana Del Rey. She composes in Ableton, as well as on piano and guitar, and co-produces her albums.
Raised in a theatrical environment and formally trained in screenwriting, she has composed music for numerous theatre and film projects – including works for Cirk La Putyka, the Slovak National Theatre, Czech Television, and the documentary My New Face. Her seventh album, Rest In Euphoria (2024), was created for a contemporary circus performance directed by Rosťa Novák Jr., with album production by Aid Kid, Oliver Torr, and others.
Her 2023 album Šťastné dieťa ("Happy Child") is a collection of personal and family stories, recorded with some of the Czech Republic’s top musicians and produced by Peter Ostrouchov. Katarzia is a recipient of the Radio_Head_Awards and the Theatre Record award. On stage, she performs with a talented live band, enhanced by lighting design from Tomáš Košťák and visuals by Czech-Icelandic artist DVDJ NNS. Since 2014, she has lived in Prague and is an active advocate for women’s rights and feminist causes.
