Chamber music of grand classical music at St. Francis Church by Charles Bridge

Few experiences capture the soul of this historical city quite like an evening of classical music in Prague. The Church of St. Francis of Assisi, literally a few steps away from Charles Bridge, offers an intimate setting where classy music and centuries of history meet in perfect harmony. At the centre of it all stands the second oldest organ in Prague, an instrument of rare beauty, whose voice has filled these walls since the Baroque age. Come and let it fill yours.

Our tip:

Listen to festive fanfare, played by two trumpeters in stylized costumes on the heraldic trumpets before the beginning of the concert at the staircase of the church. The artists typically perform 30 minutes before the concert begins.

About the organ:

The organ of St. Francis of Assisi Church is the second-oldest organ in Prague, built in 1702. Many famous personalities, such as W. A. Mozart, A. Dvořák, and J. Seger, played this unique musical instrument, which has been recently sensibly restored.

Important:

  • No assigned seating, seating on a first-come, first-served basis
  • The soloists perform most of the concert from the front right balcony by the organ
  • The last two pieces will be performed on the ground floor in front of the pews
  • The church opens 20 minutes before the concert
  • Up to 3 children under 10 years old with one adult free of charge
  • No intermission
